Western Hills Humane Society
342 Industrial Drive – Spearfish, SD 57783
The Western Hills Humane Society is a not-for-profit organization, which was established to help abandoned and homeless animals. We are supported by public donations and have very limited funds. Because we are unaware of many of the animals’ history, we ask that you, as a volunteer, approach and care for these animals with the highest amount of respect and caution, at all times. We cannot give any promises with regard to the animals’ medical condition, health, disposition, or behavior. Any task that you volunteer has a degree of risk. Before you begin a rewarding path as a volunteer you must sign this form.
If you are under the age of 18 you must have a parent’s/guardian’s signature. Volunteers under the age of 16 must have a parent with them at the shelter at all times. Volunteers 16 and over, who are dependent on a ride, should not be left for more than 1-2 hours unless Ok’d by a staff member.
- All bites, scratches and any other injury must be reported to staff immediately and an incident report filled out immediately.
- Volunteering is a privilege, we appreciate any and all help, if you are disrespecting the animals or the staff you will be asked to leave.
Thank you for helping to give these animals another chance at life.
